There is a natural rhythm to life, one that is constant even if we don’t take notice of it.
Ancient civilizations lived within these rhythms or cycles, they needed to know when to plant & harvest their crops. These civilizations wouldn't have known when the right time was had they not looked up. This was the first science, astrology.
Now, we don’t have to live with just those base needs for astrology, we can use those energies to flow in so many ways, from what we eat to when we set in motion manifesting our own reality, even taking a peek into the shadowy depths of our emotions.
This is magic.
When you begin to take notice of these cycles you can begin to understand what they mean to you.
How the moon can impact our daily lives.
Like the ocean, we each have natural cycles that occur within us, as women.
In nature, things bloom at different times or we may feel strong emotions or a need for rest. These things all have something in common, the moon.
Each phase can impact us in a different way.
The moon takes about 29.5 days to go through its lunar cycle, but only 27.3 days to orbit the earth. That means that from New Moon to New moon is longer but our energy felt here on earth is shorter… working it out to be somewhere in the middle of time that energy is felt. The menstrual cycle, on average, is about 28 ish days. Just like the ocean tide, the moon is tugging in us too.
Tapping into this energy by using nature in and around you can bring about some serious manifesting power.
This particular type of connection with the lunar energy is called cycle syncing. Typically with cycle syncing your menstrual cycle either aligns with the New or Full Moon. If you are not menstruating or don’t regularly, don’t sweat it! There are plenty of other ways to connect and flow with the moon for bringing your manifestations to fruition.
Manifesting with the Moon, why do it?
Manifesting can mean many different things to many different people. To me, it means to align your thoughts, feelings, and actions with the energy of what you desire.
When you align what you think about, what good feelings you focus on, and take actionable steps towards what you desire, THEN you amplify it by the Moon’s energy… Welp, anything is possible!
By working with the moon in your own flow can assist and support you in all of life’s phases, seasons, and cycles.
Moon Phases: Power, Energy & Purpose
New moon
Take a rest, make a plan! This is a time to ask yourself those all-important questions, what do I want to manifest? What do I desire to bring to fruition? These answers may not come easily but they will come. If your plans are coming to you, write them down or add them to your calendar.
The New Moon is the right time to take it easy, read a book, and have a cup of tea. While this is a low energy phase it can also feel really creative and inspiring, especially when your daydreaming about the things you wish to desire.
Waxing Crescent
Now is the time to set your intentions, if you haven’t already! Align with the thing(s) you wish to manifest for this new cycle, root into them, and nurture the soil as your fruit begins to grow. Preparing and beginning to take action toward what you desire. During this new- building energy or this cycle energy it is important to be accountable in some way, whether you write it down, say it allowed to yourself or another, doesn’t matter. What is important is that you give your plan a breath, a declaration of sorts.
It is important to note that not all manifestations have to be your ultimate dream, small steps are what give us a fruitful harvest.
First Quarter
Half time! Regroup and take time to check in with yourself as you start to see what you’ve been manifesting, show up in your reality. You want to make sure that what is showing up is what you desire. Taking this phase to realign anything that needs adjustment as your crop begins to sprout, will ensure a quality harvest. It’s normal for the initial excitement around this ‘new thing’ to have worn off, so keep visualizing, taking action, and realigning to your goal.
Waxing Gibbous
You’ll start to see and feel tangible or palpable buds of your labor in your reality. This is not the time to sit back though, continued refinement or release of what’s no longer serve you may be necessary in order to have a healthy and full harvest. The Moons energy is strong in the Gibbous phase, if there is anything that you are wanting to protect or attract, this is a good time for it.
Full Moon
First off, it is so important to practice gratitude for every phase but specifically in this phase for all that you have accomplished. You may have been manifesting a new car but what showed up is an extra £100, or you may have worked for a better understanding of yourself but what manifested was healing. It’s not always going to be the same type of thing but what will be fruit baring is what could get to you with the least resistance. Not everything we’ve manifested will have material results.
The Full Moon has been seen as a time to celebrate abundance, transformation, and harvest! Do a little or a lot of something extra during your acknowledgment of this phase.
Waning Gibbous
As the moon’s energy is turning inward we can often find our own energy may match. Reflect on what you’ve accomplished, what you may want to do differently, or even ponder your next plan of action for the next cycle. The Full Moons energy illuminates depths and shadows, some find it weird or uncomfortable. I find that it shows me what work needs to be done.
Releasing these things that no longer serve you will be amplified by the moon’s energy in this phase.
...and just like a wilting flower, it goes back into the soil to fertilize and give nutrients to the next flowers to come.
Last Quarter
The Moons releasing energy reaches its peak. While the Full Moon illuminated what needs to be released, the Waning Moon prepared us to actually do it, this Last Quarter is giving the power to release it. If there is anything you want to get rid of now is a great time to clean the house, energetically or physically. Forgiveness and honesty are also very welcomed in the Last Quarter.
Waning Crescent
This marks the end of the Lunar cycle, a time for rest, trust, and surrender. You’ve done the work now it is time to relax and be still.
I like to take this time to lackadaisically tidy up, renew the energy with a smoke cleansing, or mindfully clean something that’s been on my list. This allows me to more easily relax and quiet my mind. I say, if it feels good for you, do it!
We each have our own flow with these energies, once we find it and tune into it the more easily aligning with the Moon becomes.
And then it starts all over again!
There are many simple day-to-day ways to use the Moon's energy and there are plenty of ways to use it to manifest your desires, but only if you are willing to show up for it. That's the important thing to note here, all of this power comes down to you. You are always whole no matter what phase you're in.
